A few days before Christmas my brother and I did a big road trip through seven states to see family and to do some snowboarding. We started in Santa Barbara and drove north to the Oregon border, then all the way across Oregon and Idaho, skimmed Wyoming, then drove south through the entire state of Utah in a blizzard, blew through Nevada, then skimmed Arizona before finally arriving back at home. We saw a lot of pretty countryside. There wasn’t a lot of time for taking photos, but this sign in Central Oregon caught our eye.

Klamath Kayaking

Untitled-1_EP_web_lg

At the end of August my wife, father-in-law and I took some inflatable kayaks down the Klamath River in Northern California. I’m no kayaking expert, but I managed to make it down one class 4 and two class 3 rapids. I didn’t see the real big foot but I ate some Klamath salmon, saw bald eagle and elk and best of all…I made it home in one piece.

I spent part of March and most of April in the Southern Hemisphere. Rode some waves and shared good times with good people. Covered a lot of ground….drove 3000 kms in a week.

I will post a few photos here as they gradually become digitized. Will also add new galleries to my site soon…

Montana, Idaho and Wyoming

Untitled-5EP_web_lg

This summer I took a road trip through Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. While in Wyoming I went to the Buffalo Bill Cody museum and in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks where I saw buffalo, bear, antelope and moose.

Montana has been on my “to do” list for awhile. About Montana John Steinbeck said: “It seems to me that Montana is a great splash of grandeur. The land is rich with grass and color, and the mountains are the kind I would create if mountains were ever put on my agenda…I am in love with Montana, for other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love, and it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.”

I had high expectations of Montana and she lived up to them and even though I didn’t experiences its full potential due to all the forest fires (not much visibility in “Big Sky Country” this summer), I agree with Steinbeck; Montana with its small towns and friendly people represents the best parts of America.
